Love + Haiku – A Valentine’s to Remember

Feb 14, 2019 6:00 pm

If Love is for You,
Don’t miss Sake Haiku Night
On Valentine’s Day!

Welcome to a very special Valentine’s Day dinner & event! Join us for a night of fun haiku, learn about the form and its history, and hear some ancient and original haiku read by the incredibly entertaining and always hilarious UVA Professor & Author Stephen Cushman.
THEN, IT’S YOUR TURN! Bring haiku of your own, write them here on the spot, or read some from your favorite authors right on the stage for the audience. Haiku class is in session and it’s FREE! Starts at 6PM. Doors open @ 5PM. First come, first served.

We will have the full menu, a special surprise release sake for this special night, as well as fun dessert to enjoy all while having a great date night!

We asked Mr. Cushman for a “bio” to share so that you could understand what an accomplished poet, author, and teacher that he is… here’s what he sent us:

Sake and haiku,
fermentation’s rice and verse,
began in Japan,

whereas Steve Cushman
got his start at UVA
late last century,

teaching poetry
and other courses also.
Basho’s his hero.

LET US KNOW YOU’RE COMING! IT IS GOING TO BE A NIGHT TO REMEMBER. SUPER FUN, ENDLESSLY ENTERTAINING!
